DYNAMIC AIR FILTERS
The Next Generation In Air Filtration!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I establish the correct size for my Air Conditioning Unit?

Pull your filter out of your furnace or air handler, the size will be written on the side. If your filter is media only and does not indicate the size, measure the media. If you have a filter that is wrapped around the bottom of the furnace please call for instructions.

Why not buy one of the filters at my local hardware store?

They are very inefficient against the most numerous and smaller particles in the air, generally well below 5 microns in size. Its the sub-micron (those less than 1 micron) particles that are the cause of damage to your health. The EPA says indoor air is 7 times more polluted than outdoor air even in our cities. The Dynamic air filter has been proven to collect 97%+ of .3 micron particles and larger from the air you breathe - that's high efficiency!

What is a "micron" ?

A micron is 1/25,000th of an inch. The human hair is approximately 150 microns. Indoor pollutants are generally below 3 microns. This is where a vast majority of the particles in the air are to be found. An increasing number of studies are finding these smaller particles to be a significant health hazard. As any allergy sufferer will tell you, what you don't see does hurt you! To effectively clean air, the sub-micron particles must be removed. Dynamic air filters will remove up to 98% of these particles on a multiple pass basis. For example, when tested by an independent lab in a test hours, after just ten hours of operation, we were able to remover 97% of the particles between .3 and .5 microns and 99% of the particles .5 microns or larger. And our efficiency actually increases as the filter pad loads with pollutants! This is why the Dynamic filters is referred to as a high efficiency filter - it isn't just "talk" - it's fact.

Does this filter create a 'snapping' sound, does it create ozone?

This is a unique patented non-ionizing filter that creates no poisonous ozone or 'snapping' noises (noises generated when unwanted ozone is being produced) when it is working. It works by assigning polarity to all the particles in the air as well as the special patented fiberglass media in the filter. These millions of particles themselves then act like small magnets inside the filter and they cling to each other then cling to the media in the filter. Just as paper clips on a magnet attract other paper clips, the dirt collected by these filters becomes part of the collecting surface, giving the filter increasing efficiency as it loads with contaminants removed from the air.

I have an ionization type electronic air cleaner and noticed dust on my TV and computer screen. What causes this to happen?

Electronic air cleaners to date have been "ionizing" type air cleaners that positively charge all the particles in the air. In theory they will then collect to the negatively (or grounded) collector plates. The problem is that when the plates become dirty (usually within only a couple of hours) the positively charged finer particles slip past the plates. These particles still carry a positive electrical charge and will then cling to grounded surfaces in the house such as TV screens or things metallic. The Dynamic filter is unique and unlike all other filters you may have had. It does not produce charged particles that when not captured by the filter cling to grounded surfaces in the house.
Can I convert my old type air cleaner, and install a High Efficiency Dynamic Air Filter?

Yes. The Dynamic air filter can fit right into where the two main cells are located. A 'spacer' will have to be installed so as to make the filter track 1â wide instead of 4â. This application should take a 20" x 25" or 16" x 25" filter, to check this, measure the size of the two cells side by side.
Is the Dynamic filter expensive to install?

In most cases this filter will install in the same filter track that your existing filter is installed. In those cases where an odd size filter is currently installed it may require a filter track to be installed. The cost from most contractors for this filter track would be $ 50. The filter can be plugged into a standard 115v outlet or can be wired into the 24v system in your furnace or air handler.

Is the replacement media expensive?

Who can put a value on good health? It's only about $ 5 per month to insure clean, fresh, safe, healthy air in your home year round. HEPA filter replacements by comparison, can cost several hundred dollars. Conventional electronic ionizer air cleaners have a high failure rate on the power heads which cost several hundred dollars to repair and are not as efficient. If electronic air cleaners come equipped with carbon panels for odor control these panels usually cost around $80 and need to be replaced at least twice per year. Also, electronic air cleaners must be cleaned thoroughly at least once per month, then they should be chemically stripped at least once per year. Chemical stripping usually cost at least $50.

What maintenance is involved, and how often must it be done?

This varies by house but generally the media will last two to four months. We recommend replacing the media a minimum of 3 times per year. Simply turn off the power to your heating/cooling system, pull out the filter open the hinges, install a new media pad and throw the old media away. We do also recommend you check your filter each month and if the screen appears dusty, turn the power off and dust off the face of the filter with a cloth, broom or hand vacuum.

How long has this filter been around?

This filter has been manufactured for over 15 years and used extensively in Canada, Japan, United States, Europe. It has been tested and used in many "clean room" applications, hospitals, doctors offices, casinos, bingo halls and is now being made available to clean the air that is most important to you - the air that you and your family breathe.

How often should we operate the filter?

We recommend, for maximum effectiveness of air filtration, that your thermostat be turned to the fan "on" position rather than fan "auto". This allows for continuous air filtration. This filter will always work to keep the heating equipment clean when the fan comes on. In the intermediate heating and cooling seasons, your heating and air conditioning won't come on very often therefore you won't filter the air very often unless you keep the fan on. This takes only a small amount of electricity and makes for a significant difference in the air quality in your home. It will also reduce the amount of dusting that should be required around the home.

Can I use any media?

This filter will not work with standard media. The manufacturer has a patented process for producing this filter media with an activated charcoal center section that not only absorbs the odors but also conducts the electrical charge through the center of the media. Use of any other media will void warranty and may seriously damage the filter electronics.
